CLEVELAND -- The state champion Gainesville High girls golf team got off to a winning start to the 2013 season on Thursday via a tri-match win over White county and North Hall at Mossy Creek Golf course in Cleveland.

Gainesville was led by match medalist, Meg Callahan with a 42, Morgan Reece carded a 43, and -- counting a third score with the new rule in 2013 -- was Madeline Harr with a 47.

The 24-over par total was enough to outlast White County's Brittan Slaton with a 48, Chandler Kimsey with a 49 and Jodi Sample with a 54.

North Hall players Jessie Edge shot a 53, Haley Twiggs a 54 and Ansley Carter a 59, respectively.

All three teams will see each other again on Saturday back at Mossy Creek golf course in the 2013 Spring Swing, along with several other teams.
