TOCCA - A "prescribed" burn in Stephens County, the second in as many weeks, is being conducted today.

Georgia Forestry Commission officials say smoke from the fire may be seen in Habersham, Hall and Franklin counties as well as Stephens. The fire is being conducted by the U.S. Forest Service.

Like the one a week ago, the fire is designed to "reduce hazardous forest fire fuels and improve wildlife habitats" and is expected to be completed by 5:30 this afternoon.
