GAINESVILLE - Tommy Bagwell, Jan Cooley and Bob Swoszowski will be inducted into the Northeast Georgia Business Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Gainesville.

These three men are each known for their involvement in the economic and civic development of not only northeast Georgia, but the entire state. They showcase for students what it takes to be successful in today's global economy and demonstrate that a person's service to his fellow man is one of life's most important roles.

Tommy Bagwell, a Clemson graduate, is the owner of American Proteins, Inc. , the largest rendering plant in the world. In 2001 he served as an international observer for the presidential and congressional elections held in Peru. He was recently appointed to the Governor's Energy Policy Council. He is an active member of the Republic Governor's Association. Tommy is involved in many local organizations such as the NE Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts, the Forsyth Rotary Club and the Kennesaw State University Board of Trustees.

Jan Cooley is currently the CEO of Proview Foods. A graduate of South Hall High School, Jan is a self-made entrepreneur. He started his career working on the line at Martin Poultry and went on to found Kings Delight, a food processing plant, which at one time employed 1100 workers. He also served his country in the Georgia National Guard for six years. Jan is a member of Free Chapel Worship Center, where he has been involved in supporting outreach programs such as No Longer Bound, Haiti Relief, and New Beginnings, among others.

Bob Swoszowski received both his graduate and masters degree from Florida State University where he played college basketball. In the early 70's he became one of the youngest franchisees to be approved as an owner/operator of McDonald's Restaurants. Today, Bob owns 11 restaurants across northeast Georgia. He has been a leader in the business, twice serving as president of the Greater Atlanta McDonald's Operators Association. Dedicated to community service, he has served on the Board of Trustees for both Brenau University and North Georgia College & State University and actively supports a variety of non-profits in the community.

The laureates will be inducted into the Northeast Georgia Business Hall of Fame Thursday at the Chattahoochee Country Club. The event benefits Junior Achievement of Georgia.

Previous inductees: John, Jacobs, Jr., Elton Maddox, Lessie Smithgall, Jim Walters, Gus Whalen, Abit Massey, Moss & Lindsey Robertson, and Philip Wilheit.
