Baseball: Johnson too much for West Hall

OAKWOOD -- Johnson baseball downed cross-town rival West Hall 7-1 on Wednesday in Oakwood.

Asher Griffith took the win on the mound, pitching 7 complete innings with 5 strikeouts, allowing only 1 earned run on 3 hits.

The Knights (2-0) posted 11 hits and 7 RBIs. Senior Hunter Newman went 3 for 4 at the plate with a double, 2 singles and an RBI, while Chandler Cochran had a double and single and led the team with 3 RBIs.

Jordan Green and Joel Munoz each had 2 hits, while Munoz also posted an RBI. Brandon Gailey also had a double and an RBI, while Malachi Mills had a single. Third baseman Corey Collins posted an RBI.

The Knights will host West Hall on March 6.
