Under the agreement, a TCSG student with a 2.5 GPA or higher and an Associate of Applied Science or Associate of Science degree will be admitted to any participating GICA member school. The private schools may only deny admission if post associate's degree coursework falls below admission standards or the applicant is not in good standing.
"The articulation agreement for general education courses between the GICA and the TCSG creates additional education pathways for our students, and it's another big step in our state's effort to provide seamless educational ladders for all Georgians," TCSG Executive Director for Academic Affairs Joe Dan Banker said.
Several colleges in our area are taking part in the effort. They include Brenau University and Piedmont, Toccoa-Falls, Truett McConnell and Young Harris colleges.
"The purpose of this unprecedented public-private partnership is to facilitate college completion throughout Georgia and empower the future workforce," GICA President Dr. Susanna Baxter said.
Representatives of both organizations signed the agreement last week at the State Capitol.
