AUGUSTA -- A career that spanned five decades, included four state championships and over 700 wins came to an end on Saturday, as the Lakeview boys basketball team fell to Aquinas 58-49 in the Class A private playoffs in Augusta.

Lions coach Seth Vining, who announced his retirement would follow the 2012-13 campaign, watched his team battle throughout, but Lakeview (18-8) never found an answer for Fightin' Irish standout Ahmed Hill.

The junior standout scored a game-high 29 points.

Austin Montgomery led the Lions with 18 points, while Trevor Price added 14 and Joel Larsen chipped in with 11.

Lakeview shot just seven free throws on the night, compared with 33 for Aquinas (21-6).

The Lions season is now complete, as well as the varsity careers of 10 seniors, of whom Vining said earlier in the week, "I couldn't think of a better group to go out with."
