Jackson County Emergency officials said all of the injuries in Friday morning's bus crash on the Interstate were minor.

The bus overturned on the northbound side of Interstate 85 near mile marker 133 around 5:50 a.m.

Jackson County Emergency Services Director Steve Nichols said 16 people were taken to hospitals, only three with minor injuries.

"We had some heavy rain in the area at the time, so a lot of them were just transported to get them out of the weather," Nichols said.

Nichols said three ambulances transported the people, 13 to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville and 3 to Athens Regional Hospital.

Nichols described the vehicle as a party bus pulling a trailer.

"If you see them around beaches and stuff like that, they call them party buses. It had been converted into a multi-passenger unit that could haul people from different places. It actually had a trailer hooked behind it," Nichols said.

Channel 2 News is reporting the people were part of the Atlanta-based corporate entertainment band, Party on the Moon.

Investigators opened the northbound side of the interstate around 12:55 p.m.

The Georgia State Patrol handled the investigation.
