GAINESVILLE - The chilly, wet weather in Gainesville Friday did not stop exhibitors or visitors from attending the 4th Annual 'Buy Local Expo' at the Civic Center, hosted by the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce.

Event coordinator Michelle Wiley said the expo highlighted Gainesville/Hall County products and services.

"You're buying from a person, an individual in the community," Wiley said. "If you buy more local, they're going to hire more and when they hire they're hiring locally."

A total of 80 local exhibitors attended the Expo, which also featured the Safe and Green environmental initiative. Kyle Hinnant with McGarity's Business Products pointed to his company's theme, 'Keeping money in Hall County.'

"The best way to get the economy going is spend money locally," Hinnant said. "The community businesses see the most immediate impact from community spending."

McGarity's, a local family-owned business, was one of the exhibitors at the Expo.

Visitors also attended six seminars and enjoyed locally prepared food. The Annual SAFE & GREEN was held in conjunction with the Expo for the first time.

The title/presenting sponsor for the event was Insurance Office of America.
