GAINESVILLE - The Amerigroup Foundation Wednesday presented Safe Kids Gainesville/Hall County with a $3,000 grant to purchase child safety seats and bike helmets for its child passenger safety and wheeled sports programs via The Medical Center Foundation's Healthy Journey Campaign.

The Medical Center Foundation is an affiliate of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, and Northeast Georgia Health System, and raises funds to improve the health and well-being of the people of Northeast Georgia.

"Safe Kids Gainesville/Hall County and The Medical Center Foundation are truly grateful for Amerigroup's work to encourage safe and healthy children and families," said Kim Martin, Safe Kids coalition coordinator. "We spend about 50 percent of our time and resources on the child passenger safety and wheeled sports safety programs. This money will help fund these programs to allow us to continue to provide children with the proper safety equipment needed to reduce the number of accidental injuries."
