BUFORD -- Buford used a big first quarter run to pull away from Cedar Grove early and then held on for a 61-43 win Wednesday night in the first round of the Class AAA tournament.

Buford (23-6) next will play host to Gordon Central on Saturday in the second round. Gordon Central defeated Franklin County 47-38 on Wednesday.

Buford's defense, which was a key the Wolves winning the Region 7-AAA last week, held Cedar Grove to just nine first quarter points and helped them build a 16-point first half lead.

Kyle Doyle paced the Buford offense with 17 points. Isaiah Williams added 13 points and A.J. Davis 11 for the Wolves.

Cedar Grove was led by Chris Fredrick with nine points.
