Yonah Mountain Vineyards' octagonal shaped tasting room will rise 44 feet, capped with a cupola and spire. The projected opening is early December.
The expanded cellar will include a grotto where Yonah's best wines will be stored. The reserve room will be designed for hosting wine dinners and special events. The winery will be enlarged and come on line late summer, in time for the 2013 harvest. The builder is Bradlee Custom Homes of Jefferson.
The Millers purchased the 197-acre property in 2005 and since that time have created award-winning wines that are sold from their tasting room in Sautee-Nacoochee. The vineyard is planted with 13 acres of grapes: Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and other noble grapes. Yonah Mountain Vineyards had its first harvest in 2010.
