Galt -- who will join the school's physical education department on March 1 to teach weight training -- comes to Coal Mountain from Dutchtown High School in Henry County, where he led the Bulldogs to a 36-27 record, including a 2010 Class AAAA quarterfinal appearance.

"He is a proven successful coach who is known for his ability to build and maximize potential. Coach Galt understands the important of building positive relationships and developing student leaders, as well as instilling a sense of strong work ethic. He is a great fit for our program and will be a coach that leads by example. "
Galt coached Dutchtown High School for six years -- his first head coaching stint. Including time as an assistant Galt, has coached high school football for 17 years. A University of Georgia graduate, Galt played for the Bulldogs after playing a part of San Bernardino Valley College's (California) national championship in 1992. Galt also has a Master's degree in special education from Jacksonville State University and a Specialist degree in curriculum and instruction from Nova Southeastern University.
He will take over from Blair Armstrong, who resigned after the 2012 season in which North Forsyth went 3-7. The Raiders went 1-9 in Armstrong's first season in 2011 after going 17-15 with two state playoff appearances in the previous three campaigns.
"I am very flattered that Dr. Hebert has provided me with this opportunity," coach Galt stated. "I am looking forward to the work and putting a solid plan in place. Our team will be disciplined and hard working; we are not going to beat ourselves. Additionally, my family and I are excited about moving to Forsyth County. We have two small children and understand how important it is to be in a community that provides many opportunities. There is no better place than Forsyth County for our family and for our careers."
Coach Galt began his coaching career at Cedar Shoals High School, making it to a state championship game in 1995. From 1996-1998 he was an assistant at Clarke Central High School, making an appearance in the Georgia Dome for the semi-finals in 1996 and the quarter-finals in 1997. After moving to Cartersville in 1999, Coach Galt served as an assistant football coach and head boys soccer coach for four years at Cass High School. From 2002-2004 he was the offensive coordinator and head boys soccer coach at Liberty County High School. Additionally, Coach Galt spent two years as an assistant football coach and head girls soccer coach at Carrollton High School. While at Carrollton, the football team won a region championship, was ranked No. 1 in the state and made the playoffs both years with a quarter-final appearance in 2006. As the head girls soccer coach, he led the team to a region championship and the best record in the school's history. Both years the team made it to the second round of the state playoffs.
"We had many outstanding applicants that were very worthy of being the head football coach at North Forsyth High School," stated Nathan Turner, athletic director at North Forsyth High School. "We are thrilled to have coach Galt as our new head coach and excited to have him lead our football team. He is a high energy coach and hard worker who has the ability to relate and communicate with his players; he is known as a great motivator and has a strong vision for our football program. I am excited to see coach Galt work with our players and build a solid football program."
Coach Galt is married to Dr. Paige Galt who currently teaches Spanish at East Coweta High School. They have two children, Jackson Alexander and Georgia Ansley.
North Forsyth High School will host a meet and greet with coach Galt on Thursday, beginning at 6:30 pm in the school cafeteria.
