Winder toddler suffers setback

ATLANTA - The Winder toddler who was hit in the head by a falling tree limb three months ago has suffered a major setback in his recovery, according to Facebook posts.

Tripp Halstead underwent emergency surgery Thursday night, His mother Stacy has written that the 2-year-old now has bacterial meningitis, which is considered potentially fatal. Doctors at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta have told the parents that Tripp is not considered contagious.

The little boy came out of sugery around midnight, according to her posts.

Tripp suffered a brain injury when the large limb fell on him as he played outside on a playground at his daycare center on October 29, 2012.
