Brenau taps Gainesville native for top technology post

GAINESVILLE - Brenau University has promoted Chip Andrews of Cumming to the newly created post of vice president of information technology and chief information officer.

In his new role, reporting directly to Brenau University President Ed Schrader, Andrews oversees all the university's administrative and instructional technology and various telecommunications platforms for five campuses and other remote operations as well as for a student body and faculty scattered around the world.

"Technology will be the lynchpin in everything this university does in the future," said Schrader. To call it 'mission critical' would be rank understatement, and Chip Andrews has demonstrated through his service to Brenau that he has the vision and expertise to guide us into future generations of technical capability."

Andrews came to work at Brenau in 2005 as associate vice president, but grew up near the home campus in Gainesville.

Prior to Brenau, Andrews worked for some of the top enterprise software and security organizations in the U.s., including Special Ops Security, MAPICS, DHL Global Mail, Clarus (Formerly SQL Financials) and Computer Associates.

Andrews specializes in secure software development, helping design, develop, deploy and maintain reliable and secure software.
