DACULA -- The Lakeview Academy boys basketball team had thoughts of a Region 8-A title in coach Seth Vinings last season.

Instead, the Lions, who came in as a No. 1 seed, will have to wait for the Class A power rankings to come out after being upset 60-56 by host Hebron Christian Tuesday in the first round of the region tournament.

Austin Montgomery poured in 26 points to lead Lakeview (18-7). Joel Larsen added 10 for the Lions.

lakeview Academy currently sits 13th in the private school power rankings but could drop after Tuesday's loss. However, the Lions knocked off Athens Christian, ranked ninth, last week.

The top 16 in the power rankings will advance to the state tournament.

In other Region 8-A tournament games on Tuesday, Towns County's girls ran past Prince Avenue Christian 64-46. The Lady Indians will take on the Providence Christian vs. Commerce winner at 4 p.m. Friday at Hebron Christian Academy.

In the other girls game, George Walton throttled Athens Academy 71-26. Meanwhile, the Athens Christian boys edged George Walton 52-47.

The Lakeview Academy girls will take on Hebron Christian on Wednesday in Hiawassee.
