Sgt. Greg Colson with the DNR law enforcement said authorities got a call Monday night about what appeared to be an abandoned john boat in the Bald Ridge Creek area.
"Approximately 9:45 we received a call about a boat doing circles in the lake, nobody in it - it was going around and around," said Colson.
Colson said by the time rangers arrived, the boat had run out of gas. He said at that point rangers began their search. He said Forsyth County Fire and Rescue, Forsyth County Sheriff's deputies and the Georgia State Patrol has been assisting with the search for the boat's operator.
At this point, the identity of the missing man has not been released.
"We are in contact with the subject's family. They said that he was out fishing, it's not uncommon for him to go fishing," said Colson.
Colson said authorities currently are searching the Little Ridge Park area.
