CARNESVILLE - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has now confirmed the body that was found in an abandoned well is that of 33-year-old Bonny Anne Cooner.

Kris Sperry, the state's chief medical examiner, ruled that Cooner died of strangulation and blunt force trauma to her head. Her body was found Saturday evening at the bottom of a well about three miles from her home in Canon.

Cooner lived with Shubert and her 12-year-old son.

Cooner's boyfriend, Brent Shubert, has been arrested in connection with her death. Shubert is charged with murder, aggravated assault and concealing a death.

GBI spokesman John Bankhead said Shubert was arrested without incident in Anderson, S.C. and was returned to Georgia Monday.

Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas said Shubert is not cooperating with authorities.

Shubert has a first court appearance Tuesday.
