CLEVELAND - A White County home was destroyed by fire early Friday, according to White County Public Safety Director David Murphy.

The call of a structure fire at 544 Old Deer Path Way came in at 6:35 a.m. The house was located just west of Cleveland.

"Firefighters arrived on scene to find an approximately 1,000 square foot wood frame structure a total loss," said Murphy.

Firefighters from Stations 5 and 4 with mutual aid from the City of Cleveland Fire Department responded to the incident.

According to Murphy, the occupants of the home were not present at the time of the blaze. The American Red Cross was called in to provide assistance to the family.

Murphy said the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office.
