CLEVELAND - The United Way of White County held its annual allocation luncheon Thursday at the Roy Ash Community Center in Cleveland.

Carol Powell, United Way President, said they recently had to trim back their fundraising goal from $100,000 to $80,000 because of the economy.

Powell said they rely heavily on three major fundraisers to reach their goal: the Celebrity Golf Tournament, the Hillbilly Hog BBQ Throwdown and the Festival of Trees.

Powell said even with the decrease in funds, "We are doing some amazing things here in White County."

The 18 non-profit service groups that provide service to residents of the county received their funding checks from Powell during the meeting.

Powell said anyone interested in the United Way goals and the agencies they fund can get more information by going to the link below.
