Former Gainesville, Hall Co. fire chief dies

GAINESVILLE - Former City of Gainesville Fire Chief Dick Taylor passed away Wednesday following a brief illness.

Taylor, who first served as Fire Marshall for the city from 1997 to 2001, was Gainesville's Fire Chief from 2001 until 2007, when he announced his retirement from the position.

Taylor served as fire chief for Hall County from 1980-1983, according to current Chief David Kimbrell, while also serving for 14 years as Safety and Security Manager at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements for Taylor are incomplete at this time. Services will be handled by Little & Davenport Funeral Home.
