NICHOLSON - Three teenagers, one a self-professed gang member, have been arrested for causing thousands of dollars worth of damage to a park in Jackson County.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office identified those arrested as
Montell Lanard Lumpkin, 17, Quitravious Markell Davenport, 18 and a juvenile. Authorities said the juvenile is the one who told them he is affiliated with a gang.

All three face charges of interference with government property. Authorities said it is possible more charges could be levied against the teens.

Investigators said the case involves damage to the county recreational facilities at the East Jackson Parks and Recreation Complex on Lakeview Drive in Nicholson. The restrooms and concession buildings at the complex were damaged at some point last month. Authorities estimated the damage at $3,500.

Jackson County Sheriff Janis Mangum has directed investigators to request restitution from those responsible.

"This crime is a prime example of additional costs being passed along to law abiding, hard working citizens who will not quietly stand by and allow this crime to go unpunished and see their hard earned dollars being wasted," stated Mangum in a press statement.
