GAINESVILLE - Hall County Sheriff's investigators have arrested a 14-year-old student at Chestatee Academy for making threats of a shooting at school.

The male student, who is in the 7th grade at the school in northwest Hall County, is accused of making comments about "shooting up the school." Another student overheard the comments and told parents, who brought it to the attention of school officials.

Hall County School System spokesman Gordon Higgins said no specific threat information, such as plans, dates/times, or people targeted were made. He said no weapons or destructive devices were located at the school or in the possession of the suspect.

The student, whose identity was not released, was arrested and booked into the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center and charged with one count of terroristic threats.

Higgins said the student has been suspended from school pending a disciplinary tribunal.
