Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
The recognition was presented to Forsyth County for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) that was issued for Fiscal Year 2011.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of
governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a
significant accomplishment by a government and its management. Forsyth County has received this award each year since 2000.
An Award of Financial Reporting Achievement was also awarded to Finance
Director/CFO David Gruen, as the individual primarily responsible for preparing the Forsyth County's CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR. The CAFR is available for review on the Finance Department page of the county Web site at www.forsythco.com.
"This award is a testament to Forsyth County government's commitment to transparency in our financial operations, as well as to the professional work performed by the Finance Department staff," Gruen said. "The entire Finance Department is to be commended for this recognition."
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500
government finance professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington.
