COMMERCE - An afternoon structure fire Monday forced authorities to close Homer Road heading into Commerce while firefighters worked the blaze.

Details were sketchy, but reports of the blaze started before 4:00 p.m.

According to Jackson County Emergency Management Agency Director Steve Nichols, the 3000 square foot building was vacant and hadn't been used in several years.

The fire was in the 400 block of Homer Road. Authorities opened it back up around 5:00 p.m.
