GAINESVILLE - Hall County firefighters said a woman and two children escaped injury when flames erupted from their Old Cleveland Road area home Friday morning.

A neighbor reported the blaze in the 3200 block of the road near Couch Circle.

"It did receive major fire damage. I would estimate that they would probably total it out," Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said.

Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said the fire in the 1200 square foot house likely started in the front of the house. The occupants escaped out the back.

"The intial reports were they escaped out a back window. We've not confirmed all of that. An investigator on the scene is interview them and digging through the rubble," Kimbrell said.

At this point, there is no known cause for the fire.

Kimbrell said Red Cross was assisting the family. The area is near Laurel Park.
