Basketball: Lakeview sweeps first round at East Jackson

COMMERCE -- The Lakeview Academy boys basketball team shut down Winder-Barrow in the second half to notch a 57-35 win in their first game of the Swirlies FO-YO tournament on Friday at East Jackson High School in Commerce.

The Lions (6-3) edged in front 29-24 at the half and took over after the interval, outscoring the Bulldoggs 18-7 in the third quarter.

Josh Randolph put up 14 points to pace Lakeview, while JB Britte added 13, and Paul Avery 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Markesio Anderson scored a game-high 18 for Winder Barrow in the loss.

Lakeview plays the winner of Hebron Christian vs. North Oconee at 2 p.m. Saturday at East Jackson.

The Lady Lions pounced for a 16-4 lead after the first quarter and maintained their advantage the rest of the way in the first round of the Swirlies FO-YO tournament on Friday at East Jackson High School in Commerce.

Schyler Miller scored 12 points to pace Lakeview.

The Lady Lions will play again at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Commerce.
