GAINESVILLE - More than 500 people in the Gainesville area have ordered tickets to see the movie "Stand Your Ground" and that means the independent film will now get a local showing.

Local fitness expert Greg Cochran has a role in the film, and he had spearheaded the effort to bring the movie to Gainesville's Hollywood 15 Cinemas just off Dawsonville Highway.

"Stand Your Ground" is based on the story of Jackie Carpenter, a Georgia woman who fought to have her son freed from prison after he was jailed for murder after he shot and killed a man while protecting his property.

The movie will have a three-day run in Gainesville, starting January 17.

Cochran said patrons who want to see the movie no longer have to order tickets through Seatzy, but they can go directly to the theater for tickets.
