Stowers named deputy fire chief

GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville Fire Department's Fire Chief Jerome Yarbrough announced today that Scott Stowers has been promoted to Deputy Fire Chief.

"Scott has worked in all divisions of the Fire Department," said Yarbrough in a press release. "He has the knowledge to accomplish all tasks assigned to him. I put all my trust and confidence in him to lead the department as the Deputy Fire Chief."

Stowers currently serves as the Division Chief for the fire department, where he oversees support services, special operation and administrative divisions. He is certified by the state as an Emergency Medical Technician and Firefighter and has over 20 years experience.

"I'd like to say thank you to the chief for giving me this chance," said Stowers. "I hope I do the best job that I can and use my ability to make the fire department a better place to work."
