HELEN - White County firefighters responded to a shop fire at 10:42 p.m. Tuesday.

"9-1-1 received a call about a structure fire at 132 CH Drive off Highway 356," said White County Public Safety Director David Murphy. "The owner reported the blaze, stating that fire was coming through the roof of his shop located beside his residence."

When the first unit arrived at 10:57 p.m., dispatch was told the structure was fully involved by fire, Murphy said. Firefighters quickly begin to protect the adjacent residential structure from further damage and saved the home.

"The residence did receive minor damage and the fire is under investigation by authorities," Murphy said.

Four White County stations (7, 6, 3 and 2), along with mutual aid from Helen Fire Department and Cleveland Fire Department, responded to the scene.
