ATLANTA - Georgia DOT Tuesday announced road resurfacing projects planned for State Route 60 in Hall and Lumpkin counties - and a Barrow County company has been chosen to build a new bridge over a railroad in west central Georgia.

The work in Hall and Lumpkin counties will be done by C.W. Matthews Contracting Co. of Marietta. The total cost for the two projects is $2.9 million, according to a DOT spokeswoman.

Teri Pope added the Hall County project will involve work in Gainesville from in front of the civic center to Jesse Jewell Parkway.

The work in Lumpkin County will cover a stretch of road from Morrison Moore Parkway through downtown Dahlonega "from Main Street to (State Route) 60 Business on (the) north end of town."

G.P.'s Enterprises, Inc. of Auburn is the firm chosen to construct a new bridge above CSX Railroad tracks on a re-aligned portion of State Route 90 south of Ideal in western Macon County.

Award of the contracts were among a number announced by DOT Tuesday.
