JEFFERSON - Authorities have obtained arrest warrants for a 34-year-old-man in the murder of a teenage girl in Jackson County.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed the warrants Friday afternoon.

According to the GBI, Jonathan Michael Smith is charged with one count of murder and one count of feticide in connection with the death of the girl and her unborn baby. Authorities said Smith was being held in the Jackson County Jail on unrelated charges.

Authorities said Smith lived at the same 1127 Winder Highway residence as the victim, Cheyanne Hair. Investigators said Smith and Hair had moved from Spalding County.

Hair died on the way to Athens Regional Medical Center after emergency services responded to her home following in a 911 call.

Smith also faces unrelated charges in Spalding County.
