Girls basketball: Lady Falcons get first win

FLOWERY BRANCH -- The Flowery Branch girls basketball team got its first win of the season Tuesday night pulling away for a 63-48 victory over Winder-Barrow.

It also was the Region 8-AAAAA opener for the Lady Falcons (1-2, 1-1 Region 8-AAAAA).

Flowery Branch trailed 15-11 after the first quarter but grabbed a 22-21 halftime and then took control in the second half outscoring the Lady Bulldoggs 41-27.

Kylah Mize paced the Lady Falcons with 12 points and had four steals. Kierra Knight added 11 points, including three 3-pointers, with four steals and Breanna Locke had nine points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals for Flowery Branch.

Maddie Hetzel had nine points, Queen Scott added seven points, and Heather Moore had seven points, seven assists, and thrtee steals for the Lady Falcons.
