SRTA administers the grants and loans that come through the Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank.
Flowery Branch had the biggest request among Hall County's municipalities. According to SRTA, the city applied for a grant and loan, both for the amount of $986,410.
"We advised them that submitting both loan and grant applications would allow for the most flexibility in potential funding, with the possibility of either a grant, a loan or a combination of the two," Adrian Carver, Communications and Outreach Specialist for SRTA said.
The Flowery Branch project is listed as the Lights Ferry Connector at a proposed total cost of just over $1.4 million.
The city of Gainesville applied for a $835,450 grant for intersection improvements on SR 369.
Hall County asked for a $164,000 grant for a bike path/sidewalk from Spout Springs Library and Flowery Branch High School.
Braselton topped local jurisdictions in the dollar amount requested. It applied for $4 million for the Braselton Parkway Expansion.
Elsewhere in the area, Auburn requested a $256,740 grant for Scott Industrial Boulevard improvements. Hiawassee asked for $346,500 in grant funding for a SR 2 sidewalk and pedestrian access project.
GTIB has $16 million for grants and $9.3 million for loans available. The bank is a revolving infrastructure investment fund established by the Georgia General Assembly in 2008.
