GAINESVILLE - The City of Gainesville and the Georgia Municipal Association are combining efforts and seeking donations for the 55th annual Mayor's Motorcade.

Each year, the motorcade collects gifts and monetary donations and then delivers the gifts to patients in Georgia's mental health system, including those who reside in the Gainesville-Hall County area. According to the Georgia Municipal Association's website, the gifts are given to roughly 3,200 patients in the seven regional mental health hospitals.

Those wishing to donate gifts may do so by December 11 and may drop unwrapped gifts off at the Gainesville-Hall County Community Service Center or Fire Stations 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Gift ideas include personal care items, sleepwear and bathrobes, comfortable clothing, hair items or hats, bedroom slippers, stationary, tote bags, watches, CD's and DVD's (G or PG only) and hats and gloves. Wrapping paper and other supplies are also welcomed. Monetary donations are tax deductible and should be mailed by December 5.
