Basketball round-up: Chestatee splits; Buford sweeps

JEFFERSON -- The Chestatee boys basketball team took out Franklin County 73-64 on Saturday in a tournament game in Jefferson.

Jordan Stubblefield helped lead the Eagles (1-2) to their first win of the season, scoring 19 points and hitting three 3-pointers. Ryan Barnes also scored 15 points, while Hunter Creamer added 14 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Pulliam also supplied nine points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists.

Chestatee plays host to Stephens County on Tuesday in Gainesville.

The Lady War Eagles (2-1) suffered their first defeat of the campaign after scoring two points in the fourth quarter on Saturday.

Chestatee took a 16-14 first quarter advantage and traded leads with the Lady Hawks the rest of the way.

Bridgette Kelly scored 19 points to pace the Lady War Eagles, while Tyler Bennett added 11 points.

Chestatee plays host to Stephens County at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Gainesville.

Rakim Lubin poured in 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Wolves to the win on Saturday.

D'Marcus Simonds also added 18 points and 9 rebounds.

The Lady Wolves moved to 1-1 on the season with the win on Saturday.

Buford will play host to Southwest Atlanta Christian on Tuesday.
