WINDER - Shoppers at the Winder Wal-Mart skipped their post Thanksgiving dinner naps to fill the parking lot and line up inside the store for those big holiday discounts.

Gaye Doucette from Winder said shopping Thursday instead of early Friday morning was no problem for her.

"I like it better," she said. "It's so cold out early in the morning. I've done it; you have to drag yourself out of bed and it's freezing cold."

She said Wal-Mart's price cuts and merchandise availability attracted her to join the line for the store's special sales events at 6 and 8 p.m. and beginning at 8 o'clock Friday morning.

"They have good prices on their sale items," Doucette said. "I'm after electronics and a DVD player for my granddaughter."

Shoppers were in an obvious rush to get their vehicles parked and get inside the store a full hour and a half before the first bargain event.

Wal-Mart's deals, or events, were set to run through next Monday. The first event featured tech and gaming discounts.

This story will be updated with other Black Friday shopping news.
