The low reached 23 degrees overnight in Atlanta, according to the National Weather Service. That's just two degrees warmer than the record low in 1911.
Much of the rest of the state saw temperatures in the low 20s overnight, as well. Even Savannah, which benefits from warmer air coming off the Gulf of Mexico, reaching the freezing point at a low of 30 degrees.
The measurements continue a chilly November. Macon and Athens have already set local record lows this month, and Atlanta on Tuesday saw almost a half-inch of snow, also a local record.
