Officials said Tuesday that 31-year-old Hakeem Omar, of Atlanta, has been sentenced to two years in prison. Authorities say Omar and an accomplice paid thousands in a series of bribes between September 2010 and July 2012.
Officials say Omar and co-defendant Ibrahim Barrie were actually paying an undercover Department of Homeland Security agent.
Authorities say Omar has been stripped of fraudulently obtained U.S. citizenship and will serve three years of supervised release after his prison term.
Prosecutors say 32-year-old Barrie has already been sentenced to two years in prison.
Officials say both men will be turned over to immigration authorities after their sentences.
