WEST POINT, Ga. (AP) -- A South Korean plastic production company has announced plans to build its first U.S. facility in western Georgia.

Gov. Nathan Deal announced Tuesday that the KOPLA company is planning to invest $15 million to build a plant in West Point, which is expected to employ about 150 people.

Deal says the company is planning to build a 100,000 square-foot plant on 20 acres near the state's border with Alabama.

The plant will supply engineering plastic that will be used by car manufacturers across the country.

Deal says the Columbus Chamber of Commerce will help KOPLA with their hiring process. The company will also use the Georgia Quick Start program to offer workforce training.
