Fire consumes Gillsville poultry house

GILLSVILLE - Firefighters from Banks and Hall counties responded to a poultry house fire at 153 Parks Road, Gillsville, Monday afternoon.

Interim Banks County Fire Chief Robert Wilkins said the fire was discovered when firefighters investigated a report of smoke in the area.

Wilkins said at the scene that Banks County responded with two engines and two med units, though one of the ambulances was released from the scene quickly. Hall County responded with an engine, a tanker, an ambulance and a battalion chief. Lee Arrendale State Prison Fire Department responded with personnel.

No one was hurt, but the building - which was housing chickens at the time of the blaze - was destroyed, Wilkins said.

Parks Road is located off West County Line Road (Georgia Highway 52).

A Gillsville poultry house was destroyed by fire Monday afternoon.
