Hall schools' Turpin named one of '40 Top Innovators in Education'

GAINESVILLE - In its 2013 YEARBOOK magazine, the Center for Digital Education has named Dr. Aaron Turpin, Executive Director of Technology for the Hall County School District, to its list of "40 Top Innovators in Education."

On his profile page, the publication states: "The team at Hall County Schools, under Dr. Turpin's leadership, began the journey to personalize learning for all students three years ago.

After a year of preparation, the district launched its learning platform with all of the necessary components to allow for learning to happen in many different ways and for students to show mastery through multiple assessments.

Some of the keys to success included utilizing industry standards to connect all of the district's disparate systems and to allow them to talk to each other. The team also designed a user interface that is simple to use and easily adopted by all stakeholders. HallConnect, the Hall County personalized
learning system, was the final product."

One other Georgian is in the group: Valarie Wilson, former president of the Georgia School Board Association.

In being named to the list, they are in league with officials representing large and small school districts and colleges and universities across the country, including Los Angeles, New York City and Miami.
