HOMER - Banks County Sheriff Carlton Speed announces his office has joined forces with the Appalachian Drug Task Force.

Speed said the move is to enhance investigations and continue aggressive drug enforcement in the county.

Supervised by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Appalachian DTF is a multi-jurisdictional drug agency made up of White, Lumpkin, Towns, Union and now Banks County.

"Not only will this be an increase in manpower by combining resources and providing Banks County with a higher degree of experienced narcotic investigators, it will also lower county operational expenses by sharing costs associated with fuel, investigative equipment and office supplies," Speed said.
