Gas running about 25-cents less than Thanksgiving 2012

TAMPA, Fla. -- The national average for a gallon of gas is about 25 cents less than it was during last year's Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Between November 21 and 26, a gallon of regular retail gasoline averaged $3.42 nationwide, and 39 million Americans drove to their Thanksgiving destination.

Pump prices in the Southeast are currently about 13 cents less than last year's holiday weekend. Georgia and Tennessee's state averages are 10 cents less than Thanksgiving of 2012. Florida's average is 18 cents less.

"Fuel prices are forecast to decrease further this week, bringing even lower prices as the holiday nears," said Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman, The Auto Club Group. "Even with the decrease in price, the cost of gas is unlikely to have a major impact on people's travel plans."

The national average price of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.19, 7 cents less than last week. Florida's average of $3.20 decreased 4 cents. Both Georgia's average of $3.18 and Tennessee's average of $3.07 fell 5 cents from last week.
