GAINESVILLE - The jury in the trial of Paul Bennett - the man accused in a boating accident that killed two boys in June 2012 - will resume its work Monday in Hall County Superior Court.

The crash in the Shoal Creek area on the southern end of Lake Lanier killed two young brothers - Jake and Griffin Prince of Buford.

The boys' mother was one of the witnesses who took the stand this past week for the state, testifying that she called for Bennett to return to the accident scene to help her. The crash occurred late on the night of June 18, 2012 and Bennett allegedly left the scene, even though investigators said he was aware he had crashed into the Prince family's pontoon boat.

Another child who was on the boat the night of the crash also testified for the state. The prosecution also called investigators from the Department of Natural Resources to the stand before resting its case on Friday evening.

Bennett faces charges of homicide by vessel and boating under the influence.
