DULUTH, Ga. (AP) Officials at a metro Atlanta hospital say they're working to find out how patient records that were supposed to be shredded ended up on the side of a road in Gwinnett County.

Eastside Medical Center officials told WSB-TV a vendor was taking the documents from its facility in Snellville to be shredded and it's unclear how the papers which contained sensitive information ended up on the side of the road.

Spokeswoman Patti Page says the company takes patient information very seriously and took immediate action to recover the documents.

City of Duluth officials say a crew of county inmates doing a supervised work detail picked the documents up and turned them over to police.
