BRASELTON - The annual lighting of the town's holiday tree, a collection of gifts for area youth and a free movie under the stars will usher in the holiday season Saturday evening in Braselton.

The Northeast Church and Galilee Christian church choirs will present holiday music in front of the Braselton Brothers store downtown beginning at 5:00. Lady Liberty and Chief Warrant Officer Doug Kirkland will light the traditional tree during the festivities.

The town is partnering with the Jackson County Family Connection to encourage patrons and visitors to bring unwrapped gifts for children and families to the tree lighting. New toys or new clothing items are needed for children up to age 18 to ensure that all families in need of assistance receive help during the holiday season. Gift cards, stocking stuffers or cash donations will also be accepted. Contributions are tax-deductible, and further details are available by calling 706.367-3021.

The evening concludes with another family-themed movie under the stars in the Braselton Park. "Monster University" is an animated adventure-comedy featuring the voices of Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Helen Mirren and others. The 104-minute feature is rated G and is presented by the Braselton Visitors Bureau Authority. Chairs or blankets are welcomed and concessions will be available; there is no admission fee for the movie or tree lighting.

For additional information, visit www.downtownbraselton.com .
