GAINESVILLE - About 200 people joined at the Gainesville Civic Center Sunday afternoon to celebrate patients who are more than a year removed from weight loss surgery at Northeast Georgia Medical Center's (NGMC) Bariatric Weight Loss Center. The western-themed celebration included stories from actual patients, dance lessons, line dancing sessions and plenty of congratulatory hugs.

"It's so rewarding to see past patients and how well they're doing more than a year after life-changing weight loss surgery," says LoRita Shingleton, RN, CBN; NGMC's bariatric program manager. "Whether they've lost 30 pounds or 300 pounds, these people are living, breathing testaments to what can be accomplished when clinical innovation meets personal determination."

The Bariatric Weight Loss Center at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) is the region's only weight loss center to offer both surgical and non-surgical options. Understanding that each patient's weight loss goal is unique, NGMC's trained staff works to create customized weight loss and management plans to fit each patient's lifestyle and specific needs. Surgical weight loss procedures include Gastric Banding, Gastric Bypass and Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. Non-surgical weight loss options include one-on-one sessions with a registered dietitian, comprehensive nutrition planning and extensive lifestyle assessments.
