Candy Wigner had worked with the sheriff's office since 2007 and resigned earlier this month prior to her arrest, according to the sheriff's office.
Wigner had lunch with her child at school October 16. Authorities allege she confronted another student about derogatory comments about her daughter. According to the sheriff's office, Wigner's statements to the other student were of a threatening nature. Authorities said the incident was in front of several other students.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation got the arrest warrant Tuesday. Wigner turned herself in and was released on $5000 bond. The charge is a misdemeanor.
The GBI case remained open, according to the sheriff's office.
