GAINESVILLE - The State Medical Examiner's Office has told Hall County investigators the body found last Thursday in a south Hall park likely is that of a young Caucasian or Hispanic female.

Authorities with the ME's office told investigators that an age has not been confirmed, but they believe the victim might have been in her late teens.

The body, discovered wrapped in a blanket inside a bathroom at Chestnut Ridge Park, is thought to have been at the park for about six months. The park was closed several years ago by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, but authorities said people often entered the park via Lake Lanier.

Hall County authorities said Monday more testing is being conducted to narrow down details on the death. Examiners hope to establish an identity via dental records.

Over the weekend, authorities announced that they believed the person to be a victim of homicide.
