CLARKESVILLE - Each year North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) recognizes Alumni who have excelled in their professions.

This year Toccoa resident Clint Simmons and Cornelia resident Shannon Gary were chosen as recipients of the Career Achievement Award. Martin resident and retired Postal Services employee Linda Dean was officially inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Career Achievement Awards are given to graduates of NGTC working in the field for which they studied at the college. The winners must have distinguished themselves in their careers and be respected by fellow employees and by citizens of their community.

Simmons is a graduate from the Welding Program and began working at Patterson Pump as a shop welder. He is now the Fabrication Manager and is responsible for the fabrication of some of the largest pumps ever made, designed to protect the levee system in New Orleans.

Gary is an instructor at NGTC in Machine Tool, CNC Technology, and Tool and Die.

Dean was a student at North Georgia Tech 1971-1973. She graduated with credentials in Computer Programing and Accounting and then interned at Patterson Pump, known at the time as Dubie-Clark. She then embarked on a 30-year career with the Postal Service.
